Harmovio Cross-Platform Codebase Merge

2025-11-17

We’re unifying Harmovio’s codebase so macOS, iPhone, and future platforms share the same backend, frontend, and feature set — laying the groundwork for seamless cloud syncing.

One codebase, all devices

We’re working on a major internal change: merging Harmovio’s codebase so macOS, iPhone, and future platforms share a unified backend and frontend architecture.

Right now, different platforms have different layers of the stack and separate code paths. The new approach centralizes business logic, playback engine behavior, and UI components so that the same core code runs everywhere Harmovio does.

This lets us evolve Harmovio as one product instead of a collection of loosely connected apps.

Feature parity across platforms

Our goal is to bring feature parity across devices—core DJ tools, layout customization, AI features, and creative options should work the same whether you’re on Mac or iPhone.

A unified codebase means that new features like updated FX, Academy lessons, or AI DJ capabilities can be developed once and shipped to all supported platforms in a coordinated release.

Over time, you should see fewer differences between desktop and mobile: what you learn in one version of Harmovio should translate directly to the others.

Preparing for cloud syncing

This architectural work is also a key step toward our long-term goal: seamless cloud syncing across Harmovio devices.

A shared backend and data model make it possible to sync your layouts, crates, history, and eventually more advanced state (like AI preferences and Academy progress) between Mac and iPhone.

While cloud syncing won’t arrive in this release, the codebase merge is what makes a reliable, low-friction syncing experience possible.

What this means for you

You’ll see more consistent behavior between desktop and mobile versions of Harmovio, fewer platform-specific quirks, and a clearer roadmap of which features are available where.

As we roll out the unified architecture, we’ll share more details about how cloud syncing will work and which pieces of your Harmovio setup will move with you automatically between devices.
